Our Story

We are so glad you stopped to hear Our Story! Here are 20 Years of Powerful and Impactful Historical Moments.

• Call Manifested: February 21, 1998 at 6:00 p.m. Elder James A. Wills Sr held the Founders Meeting for Love Fellowship Christian Church at His Home.

• Church: Our Inaugural service was held on March 14, 1998 at the YMCA facility.

• Structure: December of 1998, the Ship expanded and relocated to our Present home 1567 North Clinton Street.

• Trials and Tribulations - October of 1999, the church experienced a great trial and had to move out with only a weeks notice.

• Favor: In October of 1999 - Sept of 2000 LFCC held power packed life affirming services at the Beautiful Grace United Methodist Church.

• Razzle Dazzle: August of 2000 LFCC was the first church to participate in the Razzle Dazzle Parade for the Decatur Celebration.

• Great Joy: February of 2001, under the leadership of Pastor James Wills, we joined the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship International.
 
• Holiness in the HoodFirst block party was held August 2001, as an Evangelistic effort to reach the youth of our city.

• Shockwave: In the Fall of 2001, Shockwave, a ministry created to impact families from the inside out through positive intervention was established.

• Love is in the Air: February 2002, first annual Marriage Conference.

• Appointment: In 2003, Pastor James Wills was appointed District Director of FGBCF of Central Illinois.

• Elevation: in 2004, District Director Wills was elevated to the position of District Overseer of Central Illinois which was later named The Elijah District.

• Compassion: 2005. The House of Lydia was implemented to provide clothing, household items and furniture.

• Social Action: a grant program called Community Access was created in 2006 to work closely with parents and other agencies to help change the course of the lives of high-risk youth, appointed from the Macon County court system.

• Praise Dancers: Liturgical Dance Ministry (L.D.M) was formed in 2007 with 15 dancers.

• High Praise: March 2, 2008, Love Fellowship aired our first radio broadcast on Magic 1050 (10th year celebration).

• Feeding the Hungry: On March 4, 2008 our food bank House of Bread launched, the purpose was to feed and minster to the hungry.

• Launch: 2008 Men in Gods House Together (M.I.G.H.T.).

 

• Youth Employment: In 2009, we created and facilitated a summer jobs program for youth called the Decatur C.O.O.K.S. (Cultivating Occupations of Kitchen Services). This program employed youth throughout the Macon/Piatt County area.

• Emerged: 2009 Tribe of Judah Step Ministry It consists of young men between the ages of 4 and 17.

• College Bound: 2015 LFCC Scholarship for College Bound Students was implemented.

•Bishop: In July of 2017, our Pastor, Overseer James A. Wills was installed as the Bishop of the State of Illinois at the  Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship International Conference in Orlando Florida.
